Alzheimer's on the Rise in Larissa Prefecture

Alzheimer’s disease is showing a steady rise over the last few years and according to recent statistics, 3,718 people have been diagnosed with this incurable form of dementia alone in the prefecture of Larissa.
In fact, the prefecture is showing the highest rates of Alzheimer’s incidents across the country.
According to the findings of a survey conducted by the Greek Association of Alzheimer’s and Relative Disorders, the towns of Larissa and Tyrnavos are the regions with the highest percentage of Alzheimer’s victims.
Patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in Larissa equal to 1.5% of the prefecture’s total population. This percentage is exceeding the average percentage of Alzheimer’s incidence in Greece, which lies at 1.3%.
150,000 people are suffering from Alzheimer’s in Greece and almost 7 million in Europe.
