Harvard University to Honor Greek Culture in Athens

The Cultural Politics Program of the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs of Harvard University will honor the Greek culture by presenting the work of some of its most prominent figures in an event to be held on December 15 at the Athens Concert Hall.
The official international presentation of the publication series Harvard Early Modern and Modern Greek Library will be also made during this special event, which is under the aegis of the President of the Hellenic Republic.
The Cultural Politics Program of the Weatherhead centre for International Affairs of Harvard University, which is one of the leading universities in the world, is proposing with this institution entitled “Honoring Greek Culture” the reconnection of the international community to the values of the Greek culture and their consistent power and truth amidst days of depreciation and doubt over the country’s future.
The institution, on its more symbolic level, is aiming at gathering attention at the modern spiritual Greece and at bringing to light the solid and creative dynamics of the country in every possible expression of culture.
Moreover, the institution aims at presenting the contemporary cultural creativity in almost all of its aspects, such as science, art (and its history), music (composition and musicology), literature and theatre.
What is of significant importance for Greece is that the Weatherhead Centre will be including from this year on this institution promoting the Greek culture on a global level.
The inauguration of “Honoring Greek Culture” will be attended by the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Karolos Papoulias, as well as by several renowned representatives of modern cultural reality and production.
The official presentation of the publication series Harvard Early Modern and Modern Greek Library will include bilingual publications covering the biggest part of the Greek spiritual and literary works of the past millennium (11th-21st AC).
This Library will be offering a classical and complete line of all Greek works conducted throughout the millennia, rendering Greece the first country with all of its spiritual artifacts in print form, and thus accessible to all researchers and scholars across the world.
Internationally recognized scholars and researchers in the field of Greek studies are supporting and contributing in the promotion and transmission of the major Greek works and their creators.
Within its strategic policy of promoting Greece through internationally acknowledged events, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) is the main sponsor of the “Honoring Greek Culture” institution.
