Politicians Revive Elections Talk

Just seven days after the enactment of the new budget plan, PM Lucas Papademos plans to convene a cabinet meeting in order to speed up implementation of government’s work.
This development confirms assessments that the government has sunk into inaction because of the informal pre-election period, while 39 out of 50 cabinet members are busy with the next PASOK president.
According to several calm-minded PASOK and ND officials, the government itself is trapped under the interim and specific role. They explain that it has been formed to ensure the release of the sixth instalment and apply October 26 decisions, but the government members without an “economic activity” were dragged to pre-election affairs.
They say that there are two solutions: either extend the tenure of this government by several months, or proceed with elections as soon as possible.
