Greece’s leading shipping personalities, companies, and service organizations are honoured every year with the Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards.
This year’s award for the “Seafarer of the Year” was presented to Captain Stylianos Peristerakis of ANEK LINES, who was recognized for his successful effort of rescuing Greek men from the Aegean Sea with his ship “Artemis”.
The award recognizes the ethos and potential of Greek sailors who love and live in the sea through its good and bad times.
Mr. Peristerakis thanked Lloyd’s for the honor and commented on the values and strength displayed by Greek sailors. “I think our presence is extremely important for our small islands that are cut off from the mainland when the weather conditions are harsh” said Mr. Peristerakis.
