European Union Minister Egemen Bağış Visits Athens

European Union Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış met Greek Foreign Minister Stavros Dimas on Wednesday.

Bağış said that he has come to Greece for a private visit, adding that the relations between Greece and Turkey have improved considerably now compared to the ’90s.

Moreover, Bağış emphasized that the statements by Mesut Yilmaz that some forest fires in Greece had been set by Turkish agents were slightly misinterpreted.  Yilmaz himself denied that he made that statement after it was published, claiming that the daily newspaper that quoted him simply wanted to publish a juicy story and falsified his remarks.

Bağış also met Greek Defence Minister Dimitrios Avramopoulos on Thursday at the Defence Ministry of Athens.

The person in the picture doesn’t even look like Egemen Bağış. Moreover, Mr. Bağış is the Turkish Minister for EU affaires and not a European Minister duly elected by under EU member state. The editors of Greek Reporter should be more vigilant in screening misinterpreted articles that falsify facts. Yilmaz statements are true and not misquoted, otherwise why would he puts himself on the spot like that?
