Hospitals and Doctors Will Continue Their Strike

Doctors working in public hospitals, IKA, and private practices will continue their strike against health spending cuts as of next Monday, for another 5 days.
IKA employed doctors will continue their protest against austerity measures from January 9th to 13th with rolling 24-hour strikes. Their main demand is to secure the work, insurances and wages of doctors working with the EOPYY (Common Distributor of Health Services).
According to the Doctors Association of Athens’ announcement, private doctors will be on strike until Tuesday, January 10, and their main demand is to establish an EOPYY providing clear collective agreements to everyone involved.
Hospital workers will continue their protest by not treating outpatients for the following week , asking the government to freeze cuts on the special doctors’ payroll.
The General Council of the Greek Federation of Hospital Doctors will be holding a meeting on Thursday, January 12, in order to examine any further strike action.
Pharmacists will also continue their mobilisations against the austerity measures and liberalisation reforms proposed by the government.
