Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak will travel to Athens on Tuesday for talks with the Greek leadership over regional developments. The current Defence Minister is an experienced and seasoned politician in Israel, as he previously served as Prime Minister of the country from 1999 to 2001, before being defeated by Ariel Sharon.
On Monday, Barak hosted Cyprus’ Defence Minister Demetris Eliades for talks in Tel Aviv that focused on the security of gas fields in the Mediterranean Sea.
According to reports in Cyprus, the ministers signed two agreements aimed at boosting defense cooperation between Israel and Cyprus.
