ND To Submit Legislative Proposal on Electoral Rights For Greeks Abroad

The ND party announced on Thursday its plan to submit, in the immediate future, a legislative proposal on granting electoral rights to Greeks residing abroad but wishing to take part in the parliamentary elections in Greece.

According to the party’s spokesperson, Yiannis Michelakis, both the ND party president Antonis Samaras and the MPs deem it a matter of national necessity to legally consolidate the electoral rights of Greeks living abroad to participate in the country’s parliamentary elections.

It is also noted that ND had submitted a relevant legislative initiative in 2009 but was rejected by PASOK. Mr. Michelakis expressed his hopes that the leadership and the MPs of PASOK will change their position this time and fulfill their “national obligations”.
