5.3 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Crete

    The 5.3 magnitude eathquake occured between the islands of Santorini and Crete

    An earthquake with preliminary 5.3-magnitude has shaken the southern Aegean Sea islands. The epicenter was located in the sea 48 ​​km southwest of the island of Santorini and above the island of Crete. No injuries or damages have been reported.

     The Athens Geodynamic Institute reported that the undersea earthquake occurred Thursday, some 244 kilometers (150 miles) southeast of Athens.

    Aristotelion University of Athens and the Thessaloniki Institute of Earth Sciences estimated the time of the earthquake at 06.24 at a depth of 30 km.
