Greek Political Scene Inspires Impressive Chariots in Patras Carnival

The chariots of the Carnival of Patras are one of the major and most creative aspects of the big festival organized throughout the year.
Full of satiric sentiment, high quality standards and precise craft making, the Carnival chariots combine the substance of the colorful festival and the current political and social circumstances.
Impressive chariots will once again gain attention on Sunday, February 26, during the final, Grand Parade of the Carnival of Patras, which commences at 2:30pm.
Humor, originality and creativity are the key components of this year’s chariots, whose themes will reflect the current political scene of Greece and its representatives.
Former PM George Papandreou injecting Greece, two Parthenons bearing sale signs, a “Troika” monster feeding on Lucas Papademos and having an overwhelmed safe for a belly, a fat banker stripping two people of their money, an Internet pirate and figures of both the domestic and foreign political scene will march in front of the eyes of younger and older attending generations.
The big parade of Sunday will be preceded by the night parade of Saturday, beginning at 6:30pm.
138 crews have registered to take place in this year’s Carnival parades, which equal some 30,000 carnival enthusiasts.
