Eurovision 2012: The Four Songs Competing in the Greek Final (Video)

Two young girls and two bands will be fighting on March 12 for the Greek golden ticket to the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku. Eleftheria Eleftheriou, Dora, Cassiopeia and Velvet Fire are the names behind the four songs released last week online.
The four songs competing in the Greek final for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, in the order they will appear, are:
Baby I’m yours – Dora (Ilias Pantazopoulos – Franc, lyrics Nektarios Tyrakis)
Killer bee – Cassiopeia (Christos Dantis, Lyrics Leonidas Chantzaras)
No parking – Velvet Fire (George Samuelson, Leonidas Chanztaras)
Aphrodisiac – Eleftheria Eleftheriou (Dimitris Stassos , Mikaela Stenströmand Dajana Lööf)
All four acts are new faces in the Greek music scene. Eleftheria Eleftheriou, the runner up of the 2nd X-Factor season, was once more in the running back in 2010 but her entry was disqualified when it was leaked on the internet despite the broadcaster’s restrictions. Her song is written by Dimitris Stassos, a Greek-Swedish composer who was responsible for the Spanish entry in 2009, ‘La noche es para mi’. His songs are often found in the Melodifestivalen line-up as well.
Dora is another new artist, born in 1992 and raised in Athens. ‘I’m yours’ is penned by Nektarios Tyrakis who wrote the lyrics for Greece 2004 (Shake it by Sakis Rouvas) and Belarus 2005 (Love me tonight by Angelica Agurbash)
Helena, Maria and Naya are the three members of the girl band Cassiopeia who are entered with the song ‘Killer bee’, a song written by Christos Dantis, who also wrote Greece’s winning entry ‘My number one’ performed by Helena Paparizou in 2005.
Last but not least, George Alex and May Sokolai are the two members of Velvet Fire who debuted a few months ago with their first single ‘Apistefta poly’.
The Greek final will take place on March 12th at the River West Mall in Athens.
