Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Addresses Event on Modern Philhellenism

“Philhellenism is the interaction between Greece and the rest of the world” pointed out Deputy Foreign Minister, D. Dollis, during an event organized by the Diplomatic Employees Union at the Foreign Ministry in Athens on Thursday, March 29.
The event was dedicated to “Modern Philhellenism”, which began as an intellectual fashion prominent at the turn of the 19th century outside the Greek borders. Its most significant points of reference can be found in the in the work of Adamantios Korais, Greek merchants around the world, such as Barvakis, Greek ship-owners and enlightened priests.
The Deputy Minister also noted that the current circumstances have led to numerous conclusions concerning modern Greece.
“I believe that all interventions so far, no matter how they might have been expressed, discussed or commented, have come to their end. The dominant tenor now is to present strategic perspectives for the country’s future. These perspectives will be long-term and will give us the right directions and stability to secure the dynamic development of Greece. Modern Philhellenism needs to become the framework of the social, political, economic and cultural parameters imposed by technology and globalization” added Dollis.
