Loukas Papademos Starts Official Visit to Cyprus

Prime Minister Loukas Papademos arrived in Cyprus today for a two-day official visit, the first since the assumption of his duties.
”Our aim,” Papademos said on his arrival to Cyprus, ”is to achieve a better coordination as regards the efforts to solve the Cyprus problem, as well as to address the consequences of the economic crisis and further, to strengthen our cooperation in the field of energy.”
He added that his visit is taking place at a very difficult and crucial time for both countries, emphasizing the assumption of the presidency of the EU Council of Ministers by Cyprus in July.
The Greek Prime Minister will be received in the afternoon by President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias at the Presidential Palace, followed by a tete-a-tete meeting and statements to the press.
In the afternoon, the Greek PM will receive the leaderships of the Cypriot political parties DISY, AKEL, DIKO and EDEK.
This evening, he will attend the official dinner hosted by President of Cyprus Demetris Christofias.
