The collaboration between Greek and Serbian literature magazines was promoted during a discussion that took place in Thessaloniki, as Serbia is this year’s guest of honor with a special exhibition at the 9th Thessaloniki International Book Fair.
Representatives of the Serbian magazine Gradina that publishes literature, art and culture-related articles, representatives of Bosnian-Serbian magazines and Greek Giorgos Kordomenidis, publisher of the unique literature magazine Entefktirion, expressed their views on the significance of literature magazines and the challenges they face in modern world. Gradina celebrates its 112-year publication anniversary.
Translator and art critic, professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Titika Dimitroulia noted that such magazines are especially valuable for the spreading of literature information as well as the direct contact among languages and cultures.
Dimitroulia explained that – despite the pedestrian works from Serbia being popular in Greece – the poetry works are not particularly promoted, calling her co-speakers to take action in that end.
Additionally, the 1st Interbalkan Poetry Festival took place in Thessaloniki May 24-27, within the framework of the 9th International Book Fair. The festival aimed to highlight the shared and diverse aspects of poetic creation in the broader Balkan region and featured poets from Serbia, Romania, Turkey, FYROM, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Greece.
