Dutch Tourists Become Cretan Reporters to Promote the Municipality of Hersonissos

The Municipality of Hersonissos on Crete decided to promote the island through an interesting initiative. Cretan officials will collaborate with Dutch online platforms Zoover.nl and Griekenland.net, where tourists can publish their opinion about how they spent their holidays on Crete.
This project’s ultimate purpose, titled “Discover the Municipality of Hersonissos,” is to promote the Municipality via modern, effective and low-budget ways. The people in charge of this project are trying to show Europe that Crete not only offers modern facilities, wonderful beaches and an exciting nightlife, but is also an island of great natural beauty with historical monuments and many undiscovered hideaways.
The Dutch tourists who will participate in this project have in essence become “tourist reporters'” who will report the true image of Crete via social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google+) and the Zoover.nl and Griekenland.net websites. They will have the chance to upload pictures, videos, articles as well as personal texts about their travel experience.  Moreover throughout this campaign, the Municipality of Hersonissos will quiz  Dutch participants and offer giveaways as rewards.
This specific campaign is called “Be our Crete Reporter. Discover Hersonissos Municipality” and has many professionals in the tourism sector thrilled, announcing their intention to offer gifts to the Dutch reporters. Holland’s biggest tour operator, Sundio Group, offered airline tickets to participants.
We should not forget to mention that the two Dutch websites collaborate for the very first moment with a Greek or European Municipality to promote it. And more than 2 million users visit the platforms per month, which means that many people will be informed about the project!
