The first Serifos Festival 2012 will open its gates to the public from July 20th to August 12th hosting numerous music and theatre performances as well as art exhibitions at the small theatre in Kato Chora, a hidden treasure that is similar to the ancient Greek amphitheaters and features panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. The Festival will feature different prominent Greek and foreign artists, such as Christos Thiveos, Kostas Thomaidis, Elias Liougkos, Vangelis Korakakis, Sophia Vossou, Athos Danellis and the Athenian Company of Shadows, Jane Kapuya and her band,  Dimitris Bassis, Ross Daly, the Andre Maia Band, Maria Protopapa, Maria Georgiadou, Nikos Kalamos and many others. Moreover, concerts of Greek traditional music and souravli (the local wind instrument made of reed) as well as traditional dancing performances will add a different color to the event.
The festival basically aims at giving the Aegean island a cultural dimension next to its natural beauties, crystal seas and lovely beaches. Visitors and locals of the island will have the unique opportunity of experiencing a series of cultural events praising modern and traditional Greek music, rebetiko, shadow theatre, theatre performances and children’s literature.
