The local community of Rethimno, Crete, is shocked after the revalation of a family tragedy with its victim a 16-year-old girl from Bulgaria. The girl was trapped by her mother-in-law and was gang-raped on Saturday night.
The under-aged girl was co-habitating with another Bulgarian, and both were facing very serious economic problems. Because of their situation, the minor was looking for a job to help with the house expenses. On Saturday night, her mother-in-law called her and asked her to be ready as she would accompany her husband and another friend to take her to a restaurant to look for work. According to the girl’s report later to the police, the couple drove her to a rural area outside the city where there was no restaurant. On the contrary, there was a barn where four other men, two Indians and two Pakistanis were already waiting.
The couple left the girl there and after she was gang-raped, they came back to take her. The woman gave the girl 50 euros and threatened her not to disclose any of the particulars of the encounter.
The police have already arrested six people, including the mother-in-law and are searching for another one.
