Afghan Migrant Reportedly Beaten by Greek Police

A community group claims that police officers attacked an Afghan immigrant last week, on Wednesday July 25 in his Athens apartment, leading to his falling from his balcony and resulting in his hospitalization.
The allegation was made in an open letter to Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias by the The Association of Afghans United in Greece with the support of the Movement Working Together Against Racism and the Fascist Threat.
The group refers to a witness statement by refugee Ahsan Hossin Zade, who claims that two policemen entered on Wednesday the central Athens apartment where he and some compatriots resided.
Zade claims that the officers used clubs to beat the men when they failed to meet demands to hand over any money they had. The alleged victim said his compatriots managed to flee but that the officers pushed him off the balcony.
The group asked Dendias to thoroughly investigate the claims.
