The Greek and Cypriot flags atop St. Antoni’s Church in the Cypriot village of Kellia were taken down and replaced with a Turkish flag, and words written in Turkish were found on the chapel’s stairs, along with messages written on courtyard walls, police said.
The incident was confirmed by the community President, Panicos Tirimos, according to CNA. Police said they believe it was done sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 and 6 a.m. the next morning. Tirimos said police came to take down the Turkish flag and investigate but no motive was known.
He told CNA that a Greek flag  was found at St. George’s Mavrovouniotis Monastery located between Troulloi and Kelli and that a Greek flag at the chapel of the chapel of Prophet Elias in Oroklini was removed and replaced with a black cloth.
