Rare Objects Found in Piraeus City Hall

dimarxeio piraiaFurniture and rare objects, which belong to the great benefactor of Piraeus, Kriton Dilaveris, and passed to the property of the municipality of Piraeus, have been accidentally discovered in a cache on the eighth floor of the City Hall. The objects have been recorded and photographed by officials.
Kriton Dilaveris, who was born in Piraeus in 1894 and died in 1972, was an industrialist politician who donated his whole fortune to the municipality of Piraeus. He was elected Member of Parliament in 1935, 1936 and 1946. Dilaveris was married to Athena, sister of the well-known actress Katina Paxinou.
In a recent auction organized by the municipality of Piraeus and held in the Veakio Theater, Dilaveris’ car, a Mercedes 300 SL Roadster, 1960 model was sold to a German businessman for about 400,000 euros. The money was given for the renovation of Dilaveris park.
