Olympiakos Piraeus Dismisses Coach

Leonardo JardimOlympiakos Piraeus surprisingly parted company with Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim on Saturday.
“Olympiakos announces the termination of its cooperation with coach Leonardo Jardim and thanks him for his services to the club,” the Greek club said in a statement on their website (www.olympiacos.org).
Jardim was signed to a two-year contract in June 2012 but, from the start, could not match the popularity of his predecessor, Ernesto Valverde.
Former Greece and Olympiakos goalkeeper Nikopolidis will act as caretaker coach until a replacement for Jardim is appointed.
Defending champion Olympiakos is 10 points ahead of second-place PAOK with 13 rounds to play. Fans have not been satisfied with the team’s play, and home attendance is markedly down on last year’s.
