Arab Interest in Cretan Lamb

2011 Lambs WebBig prospects seem to be opening up for Crete’s livestock farming, given that Arab countries have shown great interest in lamb exports.
Vice-regional Governor Theano Vretzou, in a meeting held with the Livestock Administrations along with the producers’ group Cretan Mitata, got President Manolis Titomichelakis in contact with the representative of the Arab company Widriss, involved with Wafic Idriss supermarkets.
Titomichelakis expressed his company’s interest in importing and distributing a great amount of lamb throughout the Arab countries on a regular annual basis. He stated, he is soon to revisit the island to establish the first official bilateral contact.
The Arab businessman visited Heraklion and Chania in mid-January, where he met with producers and exporters to promote quality Cretan products in Arab countries. Vrentzou also expressed her satisfaction about the great opportunities arising for local lamb exports to the Arab countries.
