Seminars on Food Rationing

SYSSITIO
Greece of 2013 gives seminars on health issues and food safety to both employees and volunteers of the food ration distribution to the needy.
This training program is implemented by the Hellenic Food Authority, which also issued a press release in which it actually celebrated the opening of the seminars stating that they were carried out “in a very pleasant and friendly atmosphere.”
These are the results from the austerity measures implemented by the Troika, that is to organize seminars in order to educate people how to offer a plate of food to our needy fellow citizens.
The initiative for these training programs was taken by FSA because the body understands “the need for action to ensure safety provision and quality food and meals given to the people next door who resort to rations in order to meet their daily nutritional needs.”
Unfortunately, as it seems right now, the first goal is not to eliminate the causes that render hundreds of thousands of Greeks poor, but the effort to ensure the security of food offered.
In the Food Standards Agency (FSA) press release, it is stated that “the specific training given to volunteers aims at two main areas: firstly to ensure the health level, safety and quality of food or meals, and secondly FSA’s assistance in making dietary guidelines to meet the minimum needs of nutrients of those people.”
The training began on March 4, in the Municipality of Kifissia. All training sessions are free, with an official certificate given to the successful trainees after having undergone appropriate tests.
