Turkish Women In Thessaloniki Event

Turk_woman_DaySome 220 Turkish women came to Thessaloniki to mark a Woman’s Day celebration on March 8 at the Grand Hotel Palace where they were welcomed by Mayor Yiannis Boutaris and Seçil Doğan, Vice Consul of the Turkish Republic.
The event opened with Greek music and traditional dances from the folk dance group of the Cultural Organization Mygdonia. Later the Turkish women also joined in the festivities until 1 a.m. The women also came together to decry domestic abuse.
“Tekirdag Turkish Women’s Union, this year has undertaken to organize a great celebration within the framework of Women’s Day, by sending invitations to women from every part of Turkey as well as to Turkish Cypriots. Given that Thessaloniki has a special significance for us, as the birthplace of Ataturk, and since it is not so far away from our country, we decided to include it into the program, ” the President of Tekirdag Turkish Women’s Union Nural Ulker told the Greek news agency ANA-MPA.
