DIAS Policemen Murderers Sentenced to Life

026FEF9F457DAEA4DD1FFF075804B571Three of the four accused for murdering the two DIAS policemen, Yiorgos Skiloyannis and Ioannis Evagelinelis in March 2011 in Renti, were sentenced to serve two concurrent life sentences and imprisonment up to 66 years by the Three-member Court of Appeal for Felonies in Athens.
The court’s decision is the following: Andreas Pophides two life sentences and 66 years, Ioannis Savvides two life sentences, 66 years and five months, and George Emertzides two life sentences and 62 years. Emertzides did not appear in court the last day of the trial.
According to the court’s decision announced early on March 20, the rest of the defendants were charged with attempted murder and possession of weapons. The court decided their imprisonment up to nine years. The fugitive Vitalis Tersenides is also accused for murdering the two policemen.
