The medical students of the Aristotle University are standing by Alzheimer patients and vulnerable groups through the programs D.I.ANOIA and N.I.K.I of the Scientific Association of Medical Students (E.E.F.I.E )-Thessaloniki Branch.
The program D.I.ANOIA (Active Doctors for Dementia), which was launched on March 19, will continue until mid-May, while 90 medical students are volunteering their services to the Adult Day Centers Saint John and St. Helena of the Greek Association of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders.
As he stated to ANA-MPA, president of the E.E.F.I.E branch in Thessaloniki , Costas Imbrialos, D.I.ANOIA program, which is being held in collaboration with the Greek Association of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders, gives medical students from all university classes the opportunity to actively participate in a wide range of activities including voluntary services to Alzheimer’s patients as well as to contribute to the education of future doctors to recognize the disease and the appropriate treatment of these patients.
“We are planning to organize one more charity event before Easter in order to buy more vaccines to vaccinate children from vulnerable social groups attending the Polyclinic of Doctors of the World” Imbrialos said.
In this program 50 students offered their services to the Polyclinic while some others will continue volunteer work until May.
