Let's Do it! Greece

82456Let’s do it! World is a civic movement that started from Estonia, asking people from all over the world to join a series of local, national and regional clean-up events. It is the largest and fastest-growing voluntary clean-up campaign on a global scale.
Every year, thousands of people from every part of the planet, clean up their countries, sending their own message of improvement and protection of the natural and urban environment.
Last year, Greece hosted this campaign for the first time, thanks to the initiative taken by the Hellenic Solid Waste Management Association (HSWMA) and the environmental association of Attica, Time for Action. Its aim was to, within a day, conduct voluntary clean-up actions in every corner of the country. It was a difficult goal and the massive contribution made it a reality.
On April 29, 2012, over 20,000 active volunteers and 450 organizations sent the message of Let’s Do It, while removing at the same time hundreds of tons of trash from quiet areas to important ecosystems. People of all ages felt that it was about time we changed our habits.
Right now, the campaign’s goal is to increase the number of Greek volunteers within 2013. In every single town and village throughout Greece there are civic groups, volunteer organizations, municipalities, schools, services and businesses which strongly support this vision and continue to promote it.
The date of the next common action of Let’s do it Greece, is set on April 14.
All volunteer organizations, institutions and citizens are invited to register, organize their own clean-up action and coordinate volunteers and organizations of their own regions that will take part in this initiative. If Greeks decide to work together for a common purpose, conditions for a more beautiful, cleaner Greece will be created,
