Government Airplane Offered to Young Patient

AEROSKAFOS_420_420Fifteen-year-old student Manolis Vogiatzis from Patras, suffers from cavernous angioma in a part of his brain, a disease that cannot be treated in Greek hospitals, according to the doctors at the General University Hospital in Patras.
The Greek Ministry of Health found an immediate solution in order to transfer him to a specialized nursing unit in the International Neuroscience Institute in Hannover, Germany, where the boy will undergo surgery.
“Due to the severe health condition of Manolis, 15, all the necessary actions were conducted by the Ministry of Health, immediately and exceptionally, after my command and with the cooperation of the president of the National Organization for Healthcare Provision (EOPYY), Lefteris Papageorgopoulos”, stated Andreas Lykourentzos on April 3.
Manoli’s transfer demands special decompression conditions during the flight. For this reason, Lykourentzos contacted PM Antonis Samaras and the government airplane has been offered for this exceptional occasion.
However, according to PatrasTimes, the 15-year-old will be transferred to Germany on a special aircraft that has a support unit and not in the government airplane.
