TEDMED Live Athens 2013

TEDMEDPeople who have excelled in many different sectors and have remarkable ideas and diverse approaches on trends, treatments and technologies, will meet in Athens on April 21, for TEDMED Live Athens 2013, with the motto Health Forward. The organization aspires to bring something new to medicine, through innovative speeches and interactive cultural events.
TEDMED (Technology, Entertainment, Design Medicine), which is organized for the first time in Greece at the Onassis Cultural Center, is a community of pioneer scientists and innovative leaders from all sectors, whose common vision is the creation of a better future in health and medicine. The main axis of the event is the popularization of scientific knowledge on medical issues and  bridging the gap of communication between health science and the public through the use of simple and intelligible language.
Among the speakers that will take us to the medicine of the future, is the 15-year-old high school student from Maryland, Jack Andraka, who has invented an inexpensive and sensitive dipstick-like sensor for the rapid and early detention of pancreatic, ovarian and lung cancer, the guru for pharmaceutical and healthcare digital marketing and strategy Alex Butler, the Educational Consultant at the University Medical Center Groningen Jetse Goris and the award-winning knitwear designer and Diagnostic Radiographer, Brooke Roberts.
Despina Sanoudou, Assistant Professor at the Pharmacology Department of the Medical School of the University of Athens, who became an Instructor at the Harvard Medical School when she was only 27 years old, will participate among other Greeks.
