Rhodes Expects Record Year For Tourism

rhodesAccording to data acquired by the local tour agencies, 2013 could be a record-breaking uear for visitors to the Greek island of Rhodes, with an expected increase of 20 percent, coming off a disappointing 2012 in which tourists stayed away during the country’s economic crisis.

Despite a slow start to the season so far this spring, island officials are certain of a strong tourists’ reappearance from the first days of June until the first 10 days of October, AMNA reported.

Rhodes, the capital of Dodecanese, is one of the largest and most fertile of the Greek Islands. The island of Rhodes is located at the crossroads of two major sea routes of the Mediterranean between the Aegean Sea and the coast of the Middle East. Its strategic position brought to the island great wealth and made the city of Rhodes one of the leading cities of ancient Greece.

The combination of golden beaches, the excellent facilities for tourism, the island’s special blend of cosmopolitan and traditional, as well as the numerous cultural and archaeological sites make it the perfect holiday destination.
