Indianapolis College Will Close In Athens

clipboard01--3-thumb-medium“The Indianapolis Athens College, a subsidiary of the University of Indianapolis, will not be accepting new students for the summer semester, and is preparing to stop offering most undergraduate and graduate academic programs after August 31, 2013,” school officials stated on its website.
The college has offered its 176 students the  options to complete their degrees to continue studies at another college or finish at the school’s campus in the United States.
“The Athens campus and the university are working with other institutions in the region to facilitate transfers,” the announcement continued.
In order to help the current students as well as previously enrolled students who have not yet completed their degrees to “identify a path toward degree completion,” the college is going to establish a Transfer and Counseling Center, in the building on St Ypatias in central Athens. Counselors will discuss with each student the options to finish schooling.
School officials said the country’s crushing economic crisis had taken its toll on higher education and forced the closing.
