One Million Russian Tourists in Greece for 2013

1D5570249BB8A26B3AD541CBCE8B6B92The commercial director of the Russian tour operator LABIRINTH, Tatyana Zotova, estimates that one million Russian tourists will arrive in Greece this year, referring to the significant increase of the tourist wave of Russians to Greece.
She pointed out that in 2013, LABIRINTH will bring to Greece more than 200,000 tourists. The Russian tour operator organized the 7th annual Greek Forum in Corfu, with the participation of more than 500 Russian tourist agents, 100 journalists and 150 Greek hoteliers. Zotova expressed her confidence in Greece and in the prospect of an even greater increase of Russian tourists, while she announced that the 8th Greek Forum will be organized in Athens, recognizing the prospects of the destination.
A press conference was given in the Greek and Russian media, while Greek hotels were presented to the Russian travel agents. In the forum were discussed the tensions and the prospects of the Greek-Russian cooperation and ways to enhance tourism in Greece.
At the official commencement of works, salutations were addressed by the Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands, Spyros Spyrou, the Mayor of Corfu, John Trepeklis, the Executive Director of the Aldemar Group, Board Member of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE) and of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH), Alexandros Angelopoulos, the Chief Executive Officer of AEGEAN, Dimitris Gerogiannis, the Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation on Corfu and the Ionian Islands, Nikos Kanoulas, the consultant on pilgrimage tourism of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, Christos Petreas and the Mayor of Kefallonia, Alexandros Parisis.
LABIRINTH, the leading Russian tour operator, brought to Greece 155,000 tourists for 2012 and 106,000 in 2011. The first Greek Forum was held in Crete in 2008, with 250 participants. In 2009 it was organized in Chalkidiki with 280 participants, in 2010 in Kos with 320, in 2011 in the Peloponnese with 350, and last year in Rhodes with 420 participants.
