Bookings from Turkey Doubled

SIFNOS-630x419The number of visitors from the neighboring country is expected to rise by 50 percent this summer after the EU eased the visa endorsements for the Turks and those who travel to Greece through Turkey. According to the Turkish daily newspaper Cumhuriyet, Greece facilitated the procedure of visa endorsement in order to attract more tourists.
Only for the Greek island Lesvos, located in the northeastern Aegean Sea, the bookings from Turkey for the coming summer have increased by 50 percent. 33,000 Turks spent their vacation on Lesvos last year, while this year 55,000 people are expected to arrive on the island from Turkey. People working in the tourism industry say that so far touristic activity is satisfactory and they expect a rise in the number of tourists.
