Greece, after a gradual decrease in hotel prices since 2008, is now among the four cheapest countries of Europe for holidays.
The lower prices have helped offset the fears of tourists who stayed away in 2012 because of repeated images of protests, strikes and riots but are set to return this summer in record numbers.
Data shows prices fell by 15.2 percent in May 2013 compared to the same period last year, while compared to May 2011 the prices have dropped by more than 20 percent, making Greece the most affordable holiday destination behind only Turkey, Cyprus and Spain.
The reduced hotel prices are expected to boost tourism which is expected to bring in as many as 17 million people this year after a disappointing 2012.
