The Last Goodbye to Theater Great Lefteris Vogiatzis

funeral vogiatzisOn May 8 the art world of Greece said the last goodbye to the great director and actor, Lefteris Vogiatzis, who passed away at the age of 68 on May 2.
From 12 pm until 4 pm, his body was exposed for public veneration at the theater he created and adored on Kyklades street in Athens.
“For all you have said without words”, was written on the wreath next to the coffin by his beloved companion Irini Levidi.
A political burial ceremony at the First Cemetery of Athens followed, where no funeral orations were heard upon his own request.
His body was dressed with the costume of the character Tinker in the theatrical performance of Sarah Kane Cleansed, holding the program in his hands.
With no words, only with deep emotion and a prolonged applause, people said goodbye to the director and actor that offered great performances.
Friends, partners, actors, neighbors, spectators and of course his companion were present at the funeral.
