TUC's Research on Greek Crisis

tromaktikoMost Cretans consider today’s fiscal policy as an obstacle to the development of enterprises, according to a Pan-Cretan Poll on development, while they express their concern about the services provided by universities. At the same time, Cretans say that Greek businesses can become competitive and they also seem confident that Greek tourism will be a key driver of growth.
According to a research conducted under the supervision of George.I.Matalliotakis, PhD in Data Analysis and Constantinos Zopounidis, Professor at TUC and Audencia School of Management, on the public opinion regarding fiscal policy, there is a perception at a rate of 52.0% that this policy is burdening existing businesses without leaving them growth.
A 43.4% of the population feels that the existing tax policy is holding development back. A contrary view was expressed by a very small percentage of the sample (1.1%) saying this policy does not affect growth, while there were also those who believe that corporate tax favors citizen initiative for growth (0.8%).
The research showed an obvious confidence on behalf of Cretans for tourism, since a 86.8% wanted to increase the number of tourists to the island, while 12.2% of the sample said that tourism in Crete must remain the same.
Citizens of Crete expressed their concern about the education provided by higher educational institutions in the country. They appear optimistic about Greek enterprises and their upcoming competitiveness in the international arena.
People also expressed their view about the livestock sector, with a rate of 81.4% considering Greek livestock can become competitive in the future, while 16.2% held the opposite view, and 2.5% did not answer.
