Uninsured Children Will Get Vaccines

A doctor vaccinates a patient in a municipal vaccination centre in NiceAccording to a Finance Ministry announcement on May 13, the Greek government is going to spend 500,000 euros ($650,000) this year to provide vaccinations for children whose families are poor and do not have health insurance.
The ministry said that Alternate Finance Minister Christos Staikouras in consultation with Health Minister Andreas Lykourentzos and Alternate Health Minister Fotini Skopouli had approved the grant. Many Greeks are without health insurance during a crushing economic crisis that has been worsened by austerity measures, while even those with insurance are now having to pay a share of doctor’s visits and more for medicines.
