An event honoring renowned Cypriot music composer Marios Tokas, who passed away five years ago, took place in Limassol on May 13 in front of the house where he grew up, with the presence of President Nicos Anastasiades.
The artists Gerasimos Andreatos, Kostas Hadjichristodoulou and Maria Alexiou were on the agenda. The choir Modern Times and the choir of the Municipality of Famagusta, under the direction of Nicos Vichas, as well as the student band of the Gymnasium of Saint Athanasios, under the direction of Myria Avraamidou also was to take part with conductor Giorgos Pagiatis having the artistic direction of the event.
A concert dedicated to the renowned Greek singer Dimitris Mitropanos, who passed away a year ago, under the title A Year Later will be held in the Municipal Theater of Latsia, a district in Cyprus. A folk orchestra will present Mitropanos’ songs, under the direction of Marios Meletiou. Instead of tickets, the audience is invited to offer food, which will be distributed to families with economic difficulties. The event is organized by the Open University, the Municipality of Latsia and Latsia Open School.
