Cretan Monastery With Divine Wine

Monastery_KreteThe monastery of Agia Triada of Tzagarolon is one of the richest and most beautiful monasteries in Crete. It is built near the airport of Chania, in the position Tzobomylos of Cape Melecha and at the foothills of Stavros Mount. The distance from Chania is only 15 km.
This Venetian-style monastery owns its well- established reputation around Greece mostly to the exceptional wine,  olive oil and other biological products it produces.
“We have a long experience and tradition. Maybe in the last years we use modern methods, but our products are the same since 1611,” said abbot father Amphilochios Papayannakis. “Our big secret rests in the wine making.”
Since its foundation, the monastery of Agia Triada was fabled for its fine vine varieties. With  centuries of dedication and modern expertise, its monks offer a unique combination of varieties well-adopted to the local micro climate of Cape Melecha.
The monastery’s cellar resembles a museum that takes the visitor back to the past. The monks themselves cultivate the 18 hectares of vines, while for the vinification they have the help of a professional enologist. The production reaches 70,000 bottles of wine.
The red, dry Cabernet, the red, dry Fokiano Romeiko, the red, dry Merlot and the white, dry Trebiano are the four wines the Cretan monastery produces and have already won many international awards for their taste and quality.
