Scandinavians Choose Chania for Vacations

ChaniaAccording to data presented by the travel group TUI Nordic in the framework of an event that took place at a hotel, the city of Chania on Crete is the biggest summer destination for Scandinavians.
TUI Nordic has more than 120,000 arrivals in Chania airport, claiming the lead among the countries it operates.
TUI Nordic Deputy Director, Peter Urvan, pointed out that the year 2012, “due to the financial crisis in Greece and the extent that mass media all around Europe had given, had affected Scandinavians’ bookings.” He continued: “However, we managed as a company to maintain our numbers, while this year we will achieve much higher goals. Our main goal is to be present in Crete for the next 30 years.”
He supported that the most important reason for which Scandinavians choose Greece, and Crete in particular, are the upgraded hotels, manpower, education, excellent service and Cretan hospitality.
Chania Airport Manager, Stavros Kastrinakis attended the event and referred to the data showing increase of arrivals in this airport: “Concerning the arrivals in Daskalogiannis Airport during the first four months in 2013, there has been an increase of 22 percent, while in the first 15 days of May the increase is up to 24 percent compared to last year.”
