Twin Price Inscription Expected on Greek Menus

1Given that Greece has successfully reached an agreement with its creditors over a value-added tax reduction on food service, it is quite possible for the Development Ministry to introduce a mandatory regulation for all restaurateurs to display two separate prices on their menu catalogs: namely, before and after the reduction, as daily Kathimerini reports.
Until next week, when representatives of the Troika are expected to arrive in the Greek capital, Athens is awaiting the discussions that are to be held, as long as the option of reducing VAT on food service from the current 23 percent to 13 percent is concerned.
This very proposal will actually include a regulation which will force restaurant owners to keep up with the French model of twin price inscription so as to ensure that customers are in fact benefiting from the VAT reduction.
