Disputes About Onassis’ Museum Location

ONASISSKORPIOS_568_355_568_355Dmitri Rybolovlev, the Russian billionaire, new owner of the private island of Skorpios in the Ionian Sea, who reportedly bought it for his daughter Ekaterina Rybolovleva, has decided to donate objects and furniture of the late tycoon Aristotle Onassis.
A few days after Rybolovlev’s proposition to donate furniture and other objects that used to belong to the renowned Onassis family and to establish a museum that will be named Aristotle Onassis, it seems that disputes have aroused concerning the location where the building will be constructed.
According to reports, Lefkada is proposed by the island’s Mayor Kostas Aravanis, while Nidri village on the east coast of Lefkada wants it in the village of Vlicho.
At the same time, the Mayor of Meganisi island, located to the southeast of Lefkada, is on a visit to Athens. He left Lefkada’s municipal authority as his representative in order to arrange his responsibilities, as Skorpios island administratively belongs to the municipality of Meganisi.
