Christodoulopoulos Scores at Vilnius for the Greeks' 1-0 Win (video)

LTU_GreeceLazaros Christodoulopoulos headed the only goal as Greece secured a well-deserved 1-0 victory over Lithuania on Friday in A World Cup qualifier which kept them in touch with Group G leaders Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Playing on an artificial pitch at Vilnius, Greece shook off the lack of ample preparation for the game and the tiredness due to the end of the season, to translate its superiority in theory into victory, in what was a must-win game.
Fernando Santos’s team went ahead in the 20th minute through Christodoulopoulos’s strike and could have added to the scoreline but for profligacy at the LFF Stadium in Vilnius with striker Dimitris Salpigidis hitting the post in the 89th minute.
Yet Bosnia’s 5-0 win at Latvia on the night means that Greece stayed four points behind its fellow Balkan rival and will likely need to negotiate a two-leg playoff in November to make the World Cup finals in Brazil.
