ERT’s First Broadcast in 1966

ertOn 23 February 1966, Greece’s public broadcaster ERT, which was named National Radio Foundation (EIR) at the time, made its very first official appearance.
EIR’s broadcaster, Eleni Kypraiou, was the one to welcome the audience, the few people who had a television set at that time, to the new media.
The television presenter announced the broadcasts’ program, while images were inserted by the TV signal transmitters.
Images of family members watching the television program from a residential receiver were presented, as well as citizens that did not have a TV set and watched with curiosity the new means of information outside shop windows of stores with electrical goods.
