Video Captures ERT Workers Anguish

AvgeropoylosThe journalist Yorgos Avgeropoulos has released a video showing the tension and worry among ERT workers when it was suddenly announced on June 11, with five minutes notice that all 2,656 of them were being fired and the state broadcaster shut down.
The video, by journalists Yorgos Avgeropoulos, is a forerunner of a documentary which will be released in 2014. “We were shocked by the unprecedented decision of the government to close ERT, and by the way that this was done. Both me and my colleagues, journalists and technicians, we were gathered at the ERT headquarters from the very first moment.
Every day we record everything we see,” he said.
He added: “We quickly edited a nine minute video in order not to erase from our memory what happened the first day. This is our response. We will continue as far as we can. The sequence is a forerunner of the feature length documentary we are making over the last years from the beginning of the crisis. It is called AGORÀ – From Democracy to the Market and it is an international co-production by major TV networks. AGORÀ will be ready in April 2014”.
