Greece's Top Student Heads For Germany

uni_entry_examsThe student who scored the highest grade in this year’s PanHellenic exams has decided not to attend college in Greece, but in Germany.
Alexia Papaioannou averaged 98.5 percent in the university entrance examinations, a result good enough to get him into virtually any school. But she told the newspaper  Kathimerini she prefers universities in Munich or Heidelberg, as she has secured a scholarship from the German Exchange Service (DAAD).
“I would not link my decision to study abroad just with the economic crisis and the difficulties young people face,” she said. “I think it is best to see my decision as one that reflects the appetite that all people have for change,” she said.
