New Information on Trikala Escapees Manhunt

polOn July 2, the police cornered two of the five criminals that escaped from the Trikala Prison last month, and killed them in a shootout in the region of Koniska, Aitoloakarnania.
However, there is new information that can possibly reverse the initial report.  According to this information, one of the men that fell dead may be the uncle of one of the perpetrators, who also escaped from the  Trikala Prison in 2006 and the one who organized the prison break of the eight escapees in March, and not one of the five fugitives.
If this information is confirmed, then there are four remaining escapees to be found, among whom is Marian Kola.
The names of the dead men are expected to be officially announced by the police during the day (July 3), after forensic examination and identification of their DNA and fingerprints.
A large-scale operation by the Hellenic Police is currently in progress, with the participation of men from the Special Suppressive Counter-terrorism Unit (ΕΚΑΜ), the Group of Crime Prevention and Suppression (OPKE), the Counter-Terrorist Unit and the National Intelligence Service (EYP).
Their aim is to find the remaining escapees in the areas of Mountainous Nafpaktia in western Greece, who, along with the reportedly one escapee killed on July 2, were said to be responsible for the killing of a police officer in the region of Distomo and of a 25-year old woman in Korinthos in yet another gun battle with the police when she was caught in the crossfire.
