Turkish Tourists Cruise Greek Islands

greek islandsAccording to e turbonews, Turkish tourists are flooding the Greek islands traveling by cruise ships, since Greece this year is one of the countries with the lowest prices due to the crisis.
Some 50,000 tourists from Turkey are expected to visit Greek resorts by cruise ships which set sail from 10 big Turkish ports.
Turkey is one of  the first countries in cruises as they have expressed their interest in visiting the Greek islands.
Ahmet Yazıcı, cruise tourism department chief of ETS Turizm, one of two companies operating between Turkish shores and Greek islands, said, “There is strong demand since tours are visa-free. All of our ships depart full; we even have a waiting list,” adding that the company was considering routes to new destinations next year as they expected a flock of over 50,000 tourists.
A high-ranking officer of the Shipping Chamber and agency owner, Ahmet Subay, said the tourist movement of Greeks traveling to Turkey has been reversed, and now Turkish visitors who come to Greece are more than Greeks who travel to the neighboring country.
“Particularly cheaper meat and alcoholic beverage prices have increased the attraction [of the Greek islands],” he said.
