Nanoscience, Nanotechnology Summer Schools in Thessaloniki

isson12_all_outsideThis school is very different from others. It is not compulsory, students attend classes they are interested in and they don’t have to sit exams, although the results could be very interesting if they had to.
This is the Summer School on Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, which this year will be attended by four high-school students for the first time, while another 40 university students will have the opportunity to attend the free classes and get in touch with the latest developments in research in their field of interest. This summer school is organized in the framework of the academic multi-event NANOTECHNOLOGY 2013. The school will operate from July 6 to 13.
Agathi Gouniaroudi, Ilias Dondas, Theocharis Vlachopanagiotis and Dimitrios Karponis are the young scientists who attend the 7th International Summer Schools on Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, Organic Electronics & Nanomedicine in Thessaloniki.
The high school students, from their very first steps, can find a way to improve their knowledge and invest in a better future.  Most of these children are thinking of doing their university studies and working in Greece, refusing to “give up and abandon their home,” as they say.
And there is more good news, as high-school students’ interest in attending the summer schools has significantly increased. For this reason the LTFN Laboratory of Nanotechnology has already started the required co-operation for the creation of special summer classes for… future scientists. Therefore, from the next organization of NANOTECHNOLOGY, the summer school on Nanoscience &Nanotechnology will be open to a greater number of students, with the aim to provide young scientists with the opportunity of enhancing their knowledge and learn the latest developments in technology and innovation worldwide.
From July 8-13, Thessaloniki is at the center of global scientific developments, as the latest news in technology and innovation will be highlighted during the works of NANOTECHNOLOGY 2013, while more than 40 EU funded research projects of about 8-10 million euros each, will be presented.
NANOTECHNOLOGY 2013 includes 780 presentations from 55 countries around the world, while 250 researchers and scientists from Universities of Greece and abroad will be present. This participation includes people in the field of 140 research centers, 50 high-tech companies and 125 renowned scientists from all over the world, with 20 of them being Greeks.
