First SimUnesCO Forum In Corfu

simunescoThe Ionian University that is located in the Greek island of Corfu, at the Ionian Sea, will host the first simulation of UNESCO organized in Greece, SimUnesCO Corfu. The conference will be held in August 21-24, in the Ionian University.
The aim of the conference is to bring together young people and through the simulation to help them enhance their knowledge about UNESCO, understand how the international community deals with global issues and have a constructive debate.
The participants have to be very well prepared and informed about UNESCO’s structure, the committees in which they will be assigned, the topic of each committee, as well as the positions of the country they will be representing on these topics and the rules of procedure.
SimUnesCO invites the participants to express their ideas, explore different views, develop their diplomatic and communicational skills, negotiate and propose innovative solutions.
UNESCO, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, was created in 1945 and is an organization of the United Nations which works to create the conditions for dialogue among civilizations, cultures, and peoples, based upon respect for commonly shared values.
UNESCO aims at “building peace in the minds of men and women”. The eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue are among its goals as well. UNESCO contributes towards achieving these goals through five major programs: Education, Natural sciences, Social & Human sciences, Culture, Communication & Information.
SimUnesCO is organized by the institution ENOPOTEM, that is Laboratory of Legal, Economic, Political and Technical Translation. It is a laboratory of the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting of the Ionian University.
The conference will be realized in the English language, interpretation is not provided and registration is not required nor reservation.
